Genesee County COGIC Alliance History

The
Genesee County Church of God in Christ Alliance was founded by
Supt. Jerry Givens, in the fall of 2000 to create an opportunity
for the nearly 45 area Churches of God in Christ in Genesee
County to have a central hub to exchange information, enhance
our churches fellowship, and to address the social needs and
issues concerning our parishioners and community within the
Genesee County area.
During Supt. Jerry Givens visionary presidency (2000 – 2005) the
organization established a foundational platform for our future GCCA to build on. We will never forget our founder’s heroic and
historic leadership that brought our churches together and made
us the thriving alliance that we are today.

From
2006 – present Supt. Quintin L. Marshall Sr. was elected
president of GCCA. Under his leadership, the GCCA has continued
to build upon the foundational principals that Supt. Jerry
Givens and the early GCCA established.
Today, GCCA celebrates glorious past. Since GCCA’s historic
inception in 2000, a host of programs have been instituted to
unify and move our churches forward into the 21st
century, such as GCCA’s, “The 7Last Words”, GCCA Women’s prayer
breakfast, GCCA joint revivals, church website development, aide
in church financing, television marketing, adopt a school
programs, in-church after school tutoring programs, joint church
picnics, and even a GCCA Christian Olympics. We’ve come a long
way in a very short time but we are not done yet.
GCCA
looks forward to a glorious future. GCCA projects on the horizon
include: Outdoor billboard advertising, Ministerial, Marriage,
Adult & Youth retreats, Explore Michigan Parks Excursions,
Concerts in the Parks, and Family Fitness & Health days, to name
just a few. So come and join us. Get on board and buckle your
seat belts, it’s going to be a wonderful ride on the wave of the
future with the Genesee County Church of God in Christ Express,
2008 and beyond. |
